When the government allowed Churches to reopen to the public in early July we signed up to a number of protocols such as signage, social distancing between available pews and having hand sanitiser available upon entry and exit.  We also agreed to have stewards or ushers to guide people as they got accustomed to these new protocols and to sanitise the Church daily and after each service.  We have been able to honour that commitment due to the generosity of people in the community who volunteered to act as stewards at Mass or to sanitise the Church one evening a week.  We are indebted to these volunteers because without them it would simply not have been possible for us to reopen.  But that was almost two months ago and for many of these volunteers it is not always easy for them to be available every week because of family and work commitments.

Now that people have returned to more of a routine we would love to expand our group of volunteers to make it easier for everyone involved.  It is only fair that we all play our part.  Typically sanitising the Church takes about 15 to 20 minutes each evening and all the materials are provided by the parish.  If you are willing to help us by joining our group of volunteers to help either as an usher or in sanitising your local Church please contact Cathy in the Parish Office and she will pass on your name to the coordinator in each Church.  The contact details and opening times for the Parish Office are printed on the front of our newsletter each week.  We really would appreciate it if you could help us.  If we all are willing to do a little we can make it easier for everyone.                         Fr Seán
