Work has started on the Museum located in the old Town Council Office, Passage West next to the library. It is scheduled to open in July 2018.  If anyone has suitable material/artifacts for the Museum and would like to give them on loan please contact 087-1357634.

Over recent weeks many parishioners have asked for details of Pope Francis’ visit to Ireland as part of the World Meeting of Families and how people might have the opportunity to be part of this historic visit. There are 3 distinct elements to the World Meeting of Families.

22nd, 23rd, 24th August 2018: Three Day Congress in the RDS,  Dublin.

A series of talks, workshops, prayer and liturgies with a variety of speakers on the theme of family today with a special programme of events for young people. To attend any one day or all three days of this event you must register online at  A One Day Adult Ticket costs €38 [€33 Concession for Pensioners, Unwaged and Students].    A Three Day Adult Ticket costs €68.

Those registering for the Congress will automatically have the opportunity to book tickets for the Festival of Families in Croke Park and the Papal Mass in the Phoenix Park, at no extra cost.

Saturday 25th August 2018: 6.30 p.m.  Croke Park:   Festival of Families

A celebration of family in music, song, dance, poetry, testimonies and prayer. During this festival Pope Francis will give a special address.  This will be a fully seated and ticketed event.  There is no charge for attending this event but tickets are limited to 70,000 and priority will be given to those registered for the World Meeting of Families.

Sunday 26th August 2018:  2.30p.m.    Phoenix Park    Papal Mass

600,000 tickets will be available free of charge for the Papal Mass in the Phoenix Park. All those registered for the Congress in the RDS will automatically receive a ticket for the Papal Mass.  In an effort to encourage people to travel as groups the World Meeting of Families is initially allocating tickets to parishes based on the number of coaches they have booked to travel.

After parishes have received their allocation of tickets for groups travelling by coach, tickets for individuals wishing to travel independently to the Papal Mass will be available free of charge online.

We have reserved two 55 seater coaches to carry parishioners to the Phoenix Park which entitles us to 110 tickets.  The parking area for coaches will be approximately two miles from where the Mass will be celebrated but shuttle buses will be available for those who need special assistance.  No seating will be available at the Papal Mass so those attending are encouraged to bring a folding seat.

We are presently making arrangements to book a light lunch on the way to Dublin and a meal on the way home and will have full details of the exact cost of the package for the day in the coming weeks.  However, in the meantime you are welcome to reserve a place on the coach by calling Cathy in the Parish Office at 021-4863267 or emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Cathy is in the Parish Office on Tuesday mornings from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon and on Thursday evenings from 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
