Thank you to all our parishioners who have accepted our invitation to serve as Ministers of the Word and the Eucharist in our various Churches.  We invite you to join us as we explore what these ministries mean and how we can best fulfil them over the coming two Thursday nights, 14th February and 21st February 2019, from 8.00 to 9.00 p.m. each night in the Community Room adjacent to the Oratory in Ringaskiddy.  If anyone else in the community wishes to join us either as a Minister of the Word or as a Minister of the Eucharist please feel free to join us in the Oratory on Thursday.

On Thursday 28th February we invite all existing ministers to join our new ministers for a general meeting from 8.00 to 9.00 p.m. in St Mary’s Church, Passage West, so that people get a chance to know each other and we can review how we can best organise and exercise our various ministries.  Thank you.                     Fr Seán

Tomorrow, Monday 11th February 2019, we celebrate the Feast of our Lady of Lourdes and we invite you to join us in praying for all who are weighed down by sickness and ill-health and all those who care for them each day.  Prayer cards are available in all our Churches and we encourage you to take one.

Fr Con and I would also like to remind you that if you would like us to visit someone who is sick, be that yourself or a family member, at any time we would be delighted to do so.  It can be simply for a chat, a prayer or to receive the Sacrament of the Sick: whatever the person wishes. If anyone is housebound or suffering a long-term illness and would like Holy Communion brought to them, then we as a parish would be delighted to honour that wish.

Caring for the sick stands at the heart of the Christian calling so please don’t be shy about calling us.  We are never too busy for those who are sick or struggling with illness.  If we can help you in any way then it would be our great privilege to do so.

Thank you to those parishioners who accepted our invitation in last week’s newsletter and have kindly volunteered to join our Ministers of the Word and Eucharist. The invitation is still open to anyone in our community who would like to serve the community in either of these ministries when we gather to celebrate Mass together. We will have a few informal gatherings for new ministers over three coming Thursday nights on 14th, 21st and 28th February from 8.00 to 9.00 p.m.

If you are interested please give your details to any of our sacristans or to any of the priests.  If you are interested but can’t make it to one or other of the nights mentioned above please still let us know and we will work around what works for you.  We look forward to welcoming you into these special ministries.

Welcome back! We hope that the wonderful weather we have enjoyed over the summer months has lifted all our spirits and will stand us in good stead for the challenges and opportunities of the coming months as we slowly slip back into the rhythm of school, work and meetings.  The coming weeks will see many parish and community activities spring back into action after a well-deserved break over the summer.  Almost 600 copies of our newsletter are printed and circulated through local Churches each weekend so we encourage local groups and organisations to take advantage of it to keep the community informed of any upcoming events or activities.

Details of any events can be forwarded to the Parish Office or emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by 9.00 p.m. on Wednesday evening any week.

If anyone would like to pen a short article on any aspect of parish or community life or any contemporary issue we are always interested in new voices and fresh insights and will be happy to include them when we have space.  The newsletter is also available for download on our parish website each week. We look forward to working together over the coming months to keep the community informed of local news as well as giving us pause for thought and reflection.
